Microbiome Biotechnology Department
The Department of Microbiome Biotechnology focuses on understanding and managing microbial communities in agricultural systems. Research spans from basic science on plant–microbe interactions to applied strategies for harnessing microbiomes in sustainable crop production. Core areas include microbial inheritance, seed microbiomes, biocontrol, and the development of microbiome-based technologies for resilient agroecosystems, as well as biogas and bioconversion.
Potsdam is conveniently located only 30 km from Berlin, offering excellent connections by train, car, and bus. Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is the nearest international hub, with direct rail links to Potsdam.
Arriving by train is seamless: Potsdam Hauptbahnhof is linked directly with Berlin and other major German cities. The RE1 regional train from Berlin Hauptbahnhof reaches Potsdam in just 25–30 minutes.
If driving, you’ll find Potsdam easily reached via the A10 (Berliner Ring) and A115 motorways, with plenty of signage and smooth connections to the city center.
